Q: Please advise the best Indian Offshore Funds, Mutual Funds and Financial Products with a repatriable facility. Last but not the least I need the facility to view online, and have efficient and good customer service.

A: For investments in Mutual funds on repatriable basis, you need to have a NRE banking account and complete the one time KYC with the Asset Management Company (AMC). You must assess first, the investment amount, period and whether it is one time investment or certain amount invested for every month. Accordingly we would be able to suggest you with the options. As per your concern of online options, you can invest online in mutual funds in same way you access to any of your banking accounts. However for direct investment in Equity market on repatriable basis, you need to have a NRE Banking account, PIS banking account, NRE demat account and trading account. If you already have NRE banking and NRE demat account, you only need a NRE - PIS account with the banker and a trading account. Online investment facility is also available for trading account.

Retail investors can invest up to Rs 2 lakh in MOIL IPO
The Government has fixed the price band at US$ 7.45-8.21 (Rs 340-375) a share for the issue, which is expected to raise up to US$ 271.25 million (Rs 1,238 crore) through the share sale programme. The Government said that the state-owned MOIL, which will hit the capital markets on November 26, 2010, would become the first PSU to come with a public offer where retail investors can invest up to US$ 4,380 (Rs 2 lakh).

Overseas Indian Facilitation Center (OIFC)

The Indian Diaspora is the largest in the world today after China, and has roots in every country in the globe. The Diaspora’s  contribution to their state of origin has been made in various ways, through remittances, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), transfer of knowledge and entrepreneurial networks.

In order to expand the entrepreneurial ties and engage them as partners in India’s progress, an Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre, a not for profit public private initiative of Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was launched on 28th May 2007.

With a strong intention to facilitate and bridge the gap between the Overseas Indians and India, OIFC has a mandate to cover broad areas: investment facilitation, knowledge networking and ensuring business-to-business partnerships in focus sectors like real estate, wealth management, taxation, legal, healthcare, education and infrastructure.
